I Will Fix It For You

Cast your anxieties on Him.

My baby was napping, my five year old was playing by himself in the toy room, and I was cooking. All was quiet. Suddenly the angry screams of my child throwing a fit from the other room made me cringe. I called from the kitchen, "What's wrong, buddy?" He yelled back, "I can't fix this! My car is broken, and I can't get it to work!" He continued to throw a fit. I couldn't walk away from the stove to help him, so I said, "Bring it all to me, and I will fix it for you." In that moment, I could hear the gently whisper of the Holy Spirit say to me, "That's all I want from you, daughter. Bring it all to me, and I will fix it for you." How awesome is our God that although He is the Creator of life itself, He cares about our small, intimate moments. How many times do we try to do things on our own without even consulting with our Lord? We work too much just to pay the bills. We scramble to finish everything on our to do list, wish we had more hours in the day to do everything we want. We spend too much on unneeded things. We worry about our relationships. We run around trying to do everything for everyone. We focus on anything and everything except the one thing we should.

Matthew 6:34

So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

God gives us an easy alternative. He says to bring it ALL to Him. Exodus 14:14 says, "The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” He wants to handle our issues for us. He wants us to give all our anxieties, fears, worries, struggles, good times and bad, to Him. His desire is for us to let Him be in control of our lives and hearts. I know, I know... easier said than done. But when we choose to have faith regardless of how we feel about our circumstances, our faith actually grows. In our weakness, God has the chance to show up. He doesn't need to do miracles when all is well, when we are controlling or handling everything on our own. It's in our brokenness that He shows His great power. Let God be the Master and Director of your life and heart today. Choose faith over control each moment of your life. Give Him all your cares and worries, and let Him show you what He can do with a little bit of faith.

Prayer for today: Lord, remind us by the minute of our need for you. Help us to give it all to you. Teach us not to worry about tomorrow. Amen.
